Hike Through Iceland’s Volcanic Highlands

Discover one of Iceland’s most breathtaking highland areas on this private day hike through the geothermal wonderland of Kerlingafjöll. This full-day tour takes you deep into the remote interior, where steaming valleys, colorful rhyolite mountains, and glacier-fed rivers create a dramatic, otherworldly landscape.

On our way into the highlands, we make a stop at a powerful glacial waterfall — a great photo opportunity and an impressive natural feature shaped by ancient ice.

Once in Kerlingafjöll, we’ll hike for 2–3 hours around the Hveradalur geothermal area, located inside a volcanic caldera. Here, winding trails lead past steaming vents, boiling mud pots, and vibrant mineral colors, all set against the backdrop of the Kerlingafjöll peaks. The views are spectacular and the terrain unforgettable.
